Summary: Catherine finds Miami to be very different than Las Vegas.
Word Count: 283
She had only been in Miami for six months, but already she felt liberated. Working under Horatio meant that she could do what she loved the best: solving crimes. Back in Las Vegas she had to ensure that Grissom actually did all of the minute details of supervising the shift. She had assisted him with the administrative side of things, largely unthanked and unrecognized.
Horatio wanted her to just do her job, which was solving crimes to make the streets of Miami safer. And with Horatio, Catherine was never in doubt that she was a welcome member of the team. Or that Horatio genuinely appreciated her. She missed Las Vegas and her co-workers there but she was happier in Miami.
During the six months that she had been in Miami, Catherine had never once regretted leaving Las Vegas behind her. For the first in years, her relationship with Sam and how she carried herself wasn't suspect. She could call her father and have normal father-daughter conversations with him without worry that it might affect the lab negatively. And her own daughter was blooming in Miami with Catherine being on the day shift, instead of the graveyard shift where she seemed destined to remain.
Lindsay was happier with the move six months after than she had been when Catherine had told her they were moving. Catherine was also enjoying being able to watch her daughter grow. And she appreciated the fact that she wasn't bound to a shift that kept her from her daughter and strained her relationship with her father and by default her mother because of politics and a boss who was too focused on the minute details of solving the crime.
