As Nick collapsed into one of the chairs in the break room, he silently swears that he's going to melt. Las Vegas was in the midst of the worst heat wave and the lab's air conditioning had broken down. He knew that the technicians were working on the air conditioning as fast as they could, yet he still didn't think that he could last it out until the end of his shift.

And then Catherine walked into the room and he suddenly felt rejuvenated as she flashes him a brilliant smile. She takes the seat across from him and although on some level he was conscious of their discussion (the trivial chit-chat of co-workers about the weather, the broken air conditioner, and how the heat brought out the worse in people), all he could think about was the expanse of skin that she showed every time Catherine pulled on the thin cotton of her shirt to fan herself.

To his eyes, that thin strip of flesh that was playing peek-a-boo with him was the sexiest thing that he had ever seen since this heat wave had begun. He manages to tear his eyes away from it as Grissom walks into the room and Nick's eyes met Catherine's knowing ones. He can't help the carefree grin that matches her own before they start to chat with Grissom, going over the same ground that they had already broken. Somehow he knows that after their shift, they're going to explore this new development between them.
